The tower is a really quirky, charming and magical place. You can feel how well loved the family home has been – – the photos, treasures, and personal collections made it seem like you were visiting your fabulous great aunt’s home, or living in a Wes Anderson film. In short, very very special, and very grateful for our opportunity to stay here. Lots and lots of stairs! Very thankful for all these as it helped offset the pasta intake – – however, making note for any prospective visitors – – if you have any mobility issues this is going to be a pain for you. That said, the elevator up to the house is a major time saver – – you can zip down to the piazza in minutes. Loved how we were so close to the hustle and bustle of Portofino, and that we could easily transport ourselves back to the serene and beauty of the tower so instantaneously. The views from each and every single window are spectacular – – I don’t think I ever passed a window without shaking my head in disbelief and saying “oh wow, oh wow”. None of us could manage in Italian – – Elana was helpful in setting up restaurant reservations, and connecting us with local businesses (i.e. water taxi, airport transportation, pesto making workshop).
